Nestled in the foothills of Idaho's Portneuf Valley, Chesterfield Offers an excellent visitor experience. Located between Lava Hot Springs and Soda Springs, Idaho and along the Oregon Trail. The Idaho village established in 1880, is a significant historic site that calls attention to a specific period of time. Few places of this early period remain, making it all the more important. Its unique history and magnificent scenery have attracted visitors, young and old, from near and far, for may years.

State Officials

Chesterfield hosted a special visit from Blackfoot City . Site director, Jim Douglass conducted a tour for Senator Mike Crapo's assistants. They were able to visit the historic buildings of Chesterfield and witness our efforts in preserving the spirit and memory of those who settled our valley. We are honored they took the time to come see our jewel of history in the Gem State.

Chesterfield Night

We love when visitors make use of our campground. We had one visitor who captured this spectacular photograph of the night sky in Chesterfield. Thank you Wayne Milliard for showing us the beauty of the Earth.

Oregon Trail Marker

Cooper Morris dedicated many hours in Chesterfield where he worked on and completed his Eagle Project. He widened the Oregon Trail Marker, put down weed stop and finished the trail off with bark. The revitalized trail looks beautiful and will be enjoyed by Chesterfield visitors for many years to come.
